Overview | Anatomy | Evolution | Reproduction | Classification REVERIANSReverians are the living creatures that inhabit Reveria, with many unique species, some of which having their own subspecies, known to exist so far. Many possess several abilities and elemental powers, and few species behave like real animals, while most are sapient creatures with personality traits and intelligence not unlike humans. They inhabit a wide variety of biomes, ranging from sub-zero snowfields to volcanic badlands, the driest deserts to the lushest fields and everything in between. AnatomyA Reverian is composed of a Lodestar, the Imago, the Anima, and Stardust, serving as the heart, body, mind and fuel of an individual. Lodestar
Puppets like Metalox and Servilos lack a Lodestar entirely, instead running on an artificial heart of Gazerite to regulate their functions. Imago
The eyes of a natural Reverian in particular reveal whether it's currently influenced by the Rational or Primal Anima, with wild Reverians always having more feral pupils. It doesn't seem to affect the Reverian's sensory capacities either way, however, and species like Vlamero, Dreheroc and Motorawk are completely unreadable due to their lack of eyes. Anima
It is further split into two in organic Reverians - the Rational Anima that holds the willpower, rational thought and memories and the Primal Anima that embodies instincts, passion and impulses. While all Reverians share these Animas, feral species such as Lessers and Animals have an undeveloped Rational Anima that prevents them from becoming sapient until they evolve further. Stardust
When influenced by strong emotions, positive and negative alike, a Reverian can become empowered beyond its natural limits, allowing it to use its Stardust to unleash more powerful attacks, bolster their physical strength or even go beyond evolution. On the flipside, a poor emotional state makes them physically and mentally weaker than usual. The substance typically manifests as a bright, sparkling mist, most often appearing as a cloud that surrounds a Reverian as it evolves. It may also surround its body when empowering the Reverian or appear in a flash from whatever orifice or area they may fire off an elemental attack. EvolutionEvolution, though a misnomer, is an interesting phenomenon most Reverians undergo. Those capable of evolution permanently change into one or two predetermined higher forms as determined by the constellation the Reverian's Lodestar is aligned to upon touching a Gazerite Ore or consuming a Gazerite Fragment after satisfying varying conditions, the most common being the gaining of experience in battle, training and education. With every new form a Reverian evolves into, more of its intelligence and personality is expressed as their Anima develops, with a fully evolved Beastkin or Loxaloid often bearing very little resemblance, both physically and mentally, to their previous forms. The process also may cause a total shake-up in their abilities and a change in behavioural traits such as aggressiveness, sociability and obedience. Evolution is seen as another part of the life that most Reverians live, with strong, experienced creatures being seen as being worthy to survive. There is a bit of friction between those that have evolved into a sapient species and those who were born that way from the get-go, particularly as those who evolve as an adult completely lack social skills and learn things much slower. Evolved Reverians also tend to have simpler whims and dreams, often wanting to have a family and not much else beyond that. ReproductionMost natural Reverians undergo some form of reproduction with others of the same species, with only a few being completely unable to breed. With the only exceptions of the Revie line who give live birth and The Elusive Eight who are all naturally sterile, all Reverians reproduce by laying eggs. ClassificationReverians are classified by elemental type, species class and family according to its defining biological traits, including their elemental biases, strengths, weaknesses, natural abilities and physiology. The elemental typing of a Reverian isn't always made clear from its appearance, nor does it confirm that it can use attacks of its elements, however. |
